About Me :
Since Shaikha was a little girl, she had a special affection for the handmade.
For as long as she remembers, Shaikha attempted to knit but didn't know how.
It all began in the 11th grade, when she decided that it's time to learn more about what she felt passionate about: crochet!
Shaikhah has been crocheting since 2011, started with the basics such as learning how to crochet baby clothes, scarfs, mittens, and the like. It was one of the most amazing things that ever happened to her.
In 2012, Shaikha joined Watan al.Nahar Group as a volunteer and we got into Guinness World Record for crocheting the biggest blanket of Kuwait in the world which was displayed in 360 mall for the National and Liberation days of Kuwait! Shaikha represented the founder of the group in a T.V. Interview in 2015.
After some time, the Watan al.Nahar Group, turned the project into smaller blankets, and then gave them away to Syria and the feedback was very well-received. Shaikha contributed to numerous projects in Kuwait and abroad. She contributed with crocheters in a project called “the secret garden“ through which they created lots of crocheted pieces to yarn bomb the trees all over the garden. Another contribution happened in the U.S with Mr. Stephen who’s known as the yarn bomber, and my work was displayed on TMC hospital for children in Tucson, Arizona In 2016.
At the beginning of 2016 until this very moment, Shaikha started working on crocheted portraits after lots of amazing projects and contributions that she's really proud of.
Amazingly, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shaikha was part of the Ear-Savers Kuwait initiative crocheted more than 200 pieces for the medical staff and frontliners.
Shaikha Al Hasawi is also the host of her page and conducts workshops as the teacher as well. She is an avid crocheter who is passionate about sharing her love for the craft.
