What is a zine?
A zine is an independently published booklet resembling a mini magazine. Therefore, zines are not mainstream publications like magazines as they were born out of self-publishing and focus on a niche. A zine is a unique / original work of minority interest. Some examples of zines include:
*A zine with your artwork
*A zine about flowers in Kuwait
*A zine about anime
*A zine about your favorite music.
*A zine about a story in your life.
and so on...
So, what's the workshop all about?
The theme for this workshop is "Childhood Memories".
Along with guest artist Amina Al Ansari, you will be creating your own artwork and ideas for a zine which will be printed using the risograph machine provided by WarshaGraph Studio. You will be assembling your own do-it-yourself zine to take home with you!
What are the happiest memories of your childhood? What is the one thing that conjures up your memories as a child? Perhaps there was a particular moment that defined who you are now or you love looking back at those adventurous summer holidays. Whatever it may be, you can put it on your zine and create a little story.
Requirements:
You will be supplied with everything at the studio! But feel free to bring your favorite pens, pencils, papers and even your laptop if you'd like!
